The Founder
Robert Dean Sayles, was born in Lake Geneva, WI during the depression. He graduated from Grant High School and joined the army in 1942.
After the war he attended University of Illinois on the G.I. Plan, where he graduated with honors on the dean’s list. Robert Sayles was an advocate of all the arts. During his lifetime he wrote poems, novels, and took an interest in painting.
He was on the Fox Lake School Board for 20 years, serving as president for 12 of those years. He was a true friend of education.
The Robert D. Sayles – Fox Lake Education Foundation is…
a non-profit, tax deferred, 501(c)(3) organization that works independently from the Board of Education within the Fox Lake Grade Schools and the Community. The Foundation’s purpose is to provide awards of merit to students in the Fox Lake Grade Schools. The members of the foundation have a close liaison relationship with the Board of Education and the teaching staff in accessing the needs within the district, with an independent distribution of funds raised or donated by businesses or private citizens.
